Councillor

Cllr Jane Astle

Although I’ve lived in Newnham since 2004, it’s only in recent years that I’ve become more
involved in village life. A vacancy on the Parish Council offered a wonderful opportunity to make a
positive (I hope!) contribution to this lovely place.

My working life spanned several different fields, including industrial research, marketing for the
Open University and running a small import business specialising in Greek garden pots and
taverna chairs—born from a very happy period living in Athens. After moving to Newnham, I
opened a gift shop in Towcester and also served on the Independent Monitoring Board at Onley
Prison for over 12 years.

Now retired and thankfully recovered from an unwelcome health scare, I’m doing my best to enjoy
life in this glorious corner of the country. I do flit off to my bolthole on the Greek mainland four or
five times a year and I also love exploring different parts of the UK and the wider world.

As a councillor, I am here to represent the views and concerns of local residents. If there are any
issues you feel the Parish Council should consider, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – your
voice matters.
